Scott Cunningham

Scott Cunningham is one of a select few former Panthers to play professional football.

After graduating Dr. Phillips High School in 2000, Cunningham played his college ball at Tennessee State University where he lettered for the Tigers all four years as a defensive back.  He earned first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors in both 2002 and 2003, was fourth on the team his senior season in tackles and finished with seven career interceptions. Cunningham also led the OVC in pass breakups his junior year with 19.

In addition to football, Scott Cunningham was an exceptional track athlete, winning the Ohio Valley Conference Long Jump title in 2003 and placed fifth at the NCAA Regional Championships with a jump of 23 feet 6.75 inches.

After graduating TSU in 2003, Scott Cunningham signed with the Tennessee Titans as a free agent. Although he did not make the final roster, he did go on to play in the Arena Football League, first with the Memphis Xplorers (AFL2) and later with the AFL's Las Vegas Gladiators, where he finished the 2007 season with a team-leading 60 tackles.
