Kenny Shaw

In the long, storied history of Dr. Phillips Football, few wide receivers were blessed with the rare combination of speed, elusiveness, sure hands and crisp routes as 2010 graduate Kenny Shaw. As heralded as Shaw was for his play with the football in his hands as a receiver and kick returner, he was an equally devastating downfield blocker who took tremendous pride in creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. Ranked the #14 wide receiver in the entire nation and sixth overall prospect in Florida during his senior season, Kenny Shaw was well on his way to greatness as a junior in 2008 when he set records for receptions in a game (9), receptions in a season (64), receiving yards in a season (914) and 100-yard receiving games in a season (5; still active). Shaw went on to earn All-Metro West, All-Orange County and All-Central Florida honors in both his junior and senior years while leading DP to an 11-1 record in 2009, the best in program history to that point, and still holds the DP career record for receptions with 122.Kenny Shaw

Kenny Shaw's recruitment was a veritable who's who of college football dynasties: Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, Miami, but his heart was always with the Florida State Seminoles. While Kenny saw action as a true freshman, his reputation was built from his sophomore year on when he developed into one of FSU's most reliable receivers that was always at the forefront of big plays in critical times and without argument, an FSU fan favorite. As a senior, Shaw was second on the team with 54  receptions and third on the squad with 933 yards, helping the Seminoles to the 2013 National Championship. He graduated in the top-20 of all-time receivers in FSU history with 124 catches for 1919 yards, earning third-team All-ACC honors as a senior.

Professionally, Kenny Shaw was invited to training camp with the NFL's Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014 before earning a practice squad position with the Oakland Raiders. When the Canadian Football League offered greater opportunity in 2015, Shaw signed with the Toronto Argonauts where he caught 77 passes for 1,004 yards and five touchdowns in 2016. Currently, he is a member of the Ottawa Redblacks. Kenny Shaw has always maintained his loyalty and appreciation of Dr. Phillips HS. He returns home often in the off-season to visit his former coaches and teachers and is a legend in the Dr. Phillips Football program. In 2014, Kenny Shaw was elected into the Dr. Phillips Athletic Hall of Fame.
