Matt Milano

Matt MilanoMatt Milano's story is written in commitment, discipline and confidence. While he saw limited action on the varsity Football team through his sophomore season of 2010 when he registered six tackles during the Panthers' run to the State Championship game, Matt Milano rose to legendary status as a junior safety when he led the Panther defense with 123 tackles, including 17 for loss, and broke up ten passes which earned him both All-Central Florida and All-State honors. Much was expected of Milano during his senior season as DP's most dangerous defensive weapon and he delivered emphatically. For the second year in a row, Milano registered 100 tackles, 18 for loss, and tied for the team lead in both interceptions (4) and pass breakups (14) while leading the Panthers to the State Semifinal. His performance on the field earned him All District, All-Metro West, All-Central Florida and first team All-State honors and following the season, Matt was named the Orlando Sentinel's Central Florida Defensive Player of the Year as well as the Brighthouse Sports Network Defensive Player of the Year for Orange County.

In 2013, Matt Milano signed a scholarship with Boston College and his success never waned as he saw action on the field immediately. By the end of his senior season, he was a two-time All-ACC selection who racked up 140 career tackles with 32.5 for loss, ranking him ninth in program history. With a reputation as a punishing hitter, Matt Milano was drafted in the fifth round by the Buffalo Bills in 2017. Like many of his DP teammates, Matt Milano has never forgotten his roots as he returns home often during the off-season to lift and condition with his old coaches and current players. A quiet leader, his road to the NFL was never flashy nor was it ever guaranteed. Rather, Matt Milano fulfilled his dream by outworking everyone, listening to his coaches and never once took anything for granted along the way. One of the best defensive players in DP Football history, Matt Milano will soon be inducted into the Dr. Phillips Athletic Hall of Fame.
