John Barbati Field

The Dr. Phillips Baseball Complex has been named one of the top amateur facilities in the country by Baseball America.  Its signature mark is the press box, which was built in 1992 under the direction of Dr. Phillips Hall of Fame coach Danny Allie.  Private donations funded the facility, which houses a dual level media viewing area, coaches office and reception room on the top level.  The lower level has a concession facility, restrooms and storage areas.

In 2006, former head coach Mike Barefoot and his staff officially dedicated the field to longtime volunteer assistant coach John Barbati.  Coach Barbati has been a cornerstone of the program over the years and his enthusiasm and commitment to the program epitomize the spirit of Panther Baseball.  The dedication ceremony was a surprise to him and was attended by his family (that flew down from Boston unbeknownst to him) and many Panther Baseball graduates, including Johnny Damon.

Since 1988, the field has been maintained exclusively by the staff and players who dedicate hours of time everyday throughout the year to uphold its exceptional quality.  John Barbati Field has been home to the 1996 State Champions, four Major Leaguers (Danny Miceli, Johnny Damon, A.J. Pierzynski and Brian Barber) as well as over two dozen players drafted into professional baseball and countless more who used DP Baseball as a springboard into the college ranks.
