Senior leadership has been the backbone of Women's Cross Country this year and it was never more evident that at Friday's Regional Championship. DP's senior quad of Isabela Bartczak, Hannah Waddell, Sarah Zamot and Alison Walker were the top four Panthers through the shoot as DP placed sixth of 16 teams to qualify for next Saturday's State Championship in Tallahassee. Bartczak earned a fifth place individual finish with a time of 18:22 while Waddell was 23rd in the field of 123 runners in 20:12. Zamot and Walker finished 45th and 47th, respectively, just three seconds apart at 20:56 and 20:59. Sophomore Geraldine Valencia clinched the State berth coming through in 21:21 (64th) with sophomore Roxanne Deisseroth (21:56) and senior Sabrina Bahr (22:05) completing the DP contingent. The top six teams in each region earn the right to go to the State Championship and this marks the ninth time in the last ten years the Panthers will make the trip.
