Women's Soccer smashes Edgewater
11/16/2017 10:42:00 PM

You have to go all the way back to 2012 to find the last time Women's Soccer handled Edgewater on the pitch but it took all of one half last night for DP to bury those memories in a 5-0 thrashing of the host Eagles. DP (4-0) put four in the back of the net in the first half alone and stifled Edgewater defensively in notching their fourth shutout to open the season. Senior Stephanie Oliveira got things going for DP in the 15th minute with a shot off the crossbar to put DP up 1-0 and senior  Carmel de Oliveira doubled the lead after splitting through two defenders and beating the keeper for the first of her two goals on the night. Senior Madison Lamb punctuated the rout with two consecutive goals off corner kicks for a 4-0 lead at the half and in the second half, Carmel de Oliveira knocked in her second goal off a corner kick for the 5-0 final. Senior goaltender Launa Foreman notched her second shutout of the season as DP has now outscored its opposition 10-0 through the first four regular season games. In JV Soccer action, DP (1-0-1) picked up their first victory of the season with a 1-0 decision over Edgewater. Auriella Wolfgramm broke the scoreless tie with 15 minutes remaining with her second goal of the season. Both teams will relax a bit over the break before hosting Windermere Monday, November 27th.
