For the fourth straight year, Women’s Soccer came home with the coveted Friendship Cup after dispatching host Olympia last night, 4-0. Sophomore Chloe Washington scored a pair of goals, the first just 42 seconds into the match off an assist from sophomore defender Sophia Baird. Just minutes later, Washington doubled the DP lead with her second strike of the night and soon after, Sophia Baird was rewarded for her earlier generosity, scoring DP’s third goal off an assist from captain Carmel de Oliveira. In the closing minutes of the first half, Carmel de Oliveira launched a perfect cross into the box and senior Stephanie Oliveira headed it home to give DP the 4-0 final. Senior goalkeeper Launa Foreman gets credit for another shutout, DP’s fifth in seven games, while the Panthers’ 7-0 start is the best in school history. JV Soccer improved to 2-0-2 with a 2-0 victory ovr Olympia as freshman Tessa Alexander knocked in a penalty kick goal and sophomore Auriella Wolfgramm added a solo score as well. Both teams will head up to Ocoee next Tuesday.
