Women's Wrestling crowned 7 champions and added 8 more place-winners at the 2017 Matanzas Tournament

Women's Wrestling steams through Matanzas

Led by champions in seven weight classeses and eight additional place-winners, DP Women’s Wrestling dominated the 10-team Matanzas Tournament Saturday in Palm Coast as they continue to march toward a second consecutive State Champonship. DP saw all seven individual champions pin their way through their respective brackets: sophomore Jessica Corredor (97 lbs), junior Karoline Ortiz (120), junior Trinity Rios (126), sophomore Jennifer Charles (132), sophomore Jada St. Cyr (145), junior Shania Gowan (170) and junior Shedeline Ulysse (195). Runner-up finishes were turned in by senior Remy Hellinger (113), senior Roberts Charles (152), sophomore Michela Toussaint (182) and freshman Aaliyah Hyacinthe (220). Junior Yahaira Torres took home third place in the 106-pound class while junior Sterline Joseph (113), sophomore Mikayla Fountain (138) and sophomore LeAnn Bernard (182) each placed fourth in their respective classes. DP will be back in action December 28th and 29th as they compete in the KSA Girls Duals Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports!
