Women's Soccer batters Lake Brantley
1/19/2018 9:51:00 AM

Last night in a frigid Bill Spoone Stadium, Women’s Soccer capped a phenomenal regular season with a resounding 8-1 victory over Lake Brantley. DP (15-1-1) is one victory away from tying the school record for wins in a season (16) and, regardless of what happens in next week’s District Tournament, they’ve secured the best win-loss record in program history as well. DP recognized ten seniors prior to the game: Madison Lamb, Stephanie Oliveira, Carmel de Oliveira, Launa Foreman, Zariya Smith, Ana Gomes, Meriem Elidrissi, Gillian Marino, Farah Saleh, and Tatiana Gomez and it didn’t take long for them to make an impact. Madison Lamb opened up the scoring in the 14th minute and was followed by the first of three goals by Stephanie Oliveira. Zariya Smith gave the Panthers a 3-0 halftime lead with her first career goal and in the second half, DP opened the floodgates. Carmel de Oliveira blasted a shot into the upper right 90, Stephanie Oliveira completed her hat trick with a pair of goals and sophomore Chloe Washington added two goals to bring her team-leading total to 29. Monday night, the Panthers will host Evans in the quarterfinal round of the District Tournament at 6:00 pm. JV Soccer completed an equally impressive season last night, shutting out Lake Brantley, 7-0. Tessa Alexander scored two goals, Marina Guimaraes scored twice, while solo goals were turned in by Auriella Wolfgramm, Megan Lapeyrouse, who played JV Basketball as well, and goaltender Mackenzie Montague off a penalty kick. DP finished with a record of 9-1-3!
