Women's Weightlifting qualified three individual lifters for the 2018 State Championship: Jada St. Cyr, Naomi Alezi and Amani Guzman

Women's Weightlifting caps season
1/25/2018 8:28:00 PM

Women's Weightlifting had a tremendous season, earning Metro West Conference, District and Regional Championships this year and the team was comprised of many ladies that not only excelled in the weight room, but also on the wrestling mat. In fact, three of those ladies qualified for the Women's Weightlifting State Championship February 2nd up in Panama City: sophomore Jada StCyr in the 139-pound class, junior Naomi Alezi at 199 and junior Amani Guzman in the Unlimited class! Unfortunately, February 2nd is also the same day as the State Championship meet for Women's Wrestling so the choice was made by all three to compete in wrestling with the opportunity to repeat as State Champions as well as have a golden opportunity to earn individual medals. Sophomore Jessica Corredor barely missed qualifying at 106 pounds, tying the final qualifier in total lift but lost the tiebreaker as the other lifter weighed just a bit less. Senior Noelani Schwartz also barely missed the cut, coming up five pounds short in total lift in the 183 pound class. An amazing season all around by the ladies so congratulations to the entire team and to first year head coach Ben Sokolowsky!
