Competitive Cheerleading placed second in the 2018 State Championship, their eighth top-two finish in ten years

Cheerleading earns State Runner-Up

At the FHSAA State Championship in Gainesville yesterday, DP Competitive Cheerleading delivered a stunning performance in both the semifinal and championship rounds of the Small Varsity division to capture the State Runner-Up trophy for the third time in school history. DP finished third in the Regional Championship, which qualified them for the state competition but they had to perform twice, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. In the morning, DP nailed all their stunts and was nearly flawless, sending them to the finals. But they were even stronger in the final round, scoring 77 points to place second overall, just two points shy of the top spot. The Panthers have now placed in the top two at the State Championship in eight of the last ten years!  They will put their talent on display one more time this year at Saturday’s UCA National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Congratulations to the entire team and to head coach Samantha Hoffman on continuing their tradition of excellence!
