Men's Wrestling reclaims the Championship Belt with a 54-21 victory over Olympia (2018)

Men's Wrestling 6th at Metro Championship

Bolstered by bronze medal finishes in two weight classes and four more top six finishes, Men's Wrestling finished with 101 points, good for sixth place in this weekend's 20-team Metro Conference Championship Tournament. Junior Tyrese Hicks and senior Luis Forestal were the top performers for the Panthers, each placing third in their respective class. Forestal, a four-year letterman, finished with a record of 4-1 at 182 pounds, including a 5-0 victory over West Orange in the third place match. For Tyrese Hicks, this was his first Metro medal, winning three of his four matches via pin at 113 pounds, including his third place match victory where he pinned Windermere in 3:14. Sophomore Ja Breil Etienne placed fourth at 138 pounds, senor Ja Keil Etienne finished fifth at 170, senior Shaquille Kellyman earned sixth place at 220 and sophomore Jessica Corredor, who earned State Runner-Up for Women's Wrestling, placed sixth in the Men's Metro Championship at 106 pounds. Corredor has competed in three sports this winter season, including Women's Weightlifting! Up next for the Panthers is the District Tournament Friday in the House of Payne.
