Sophomore Brandon Fields belted a two-run home run in the first inning and DP plated four more in the fourth as Baseball pulled away from visiting West Orange, 10-4, for their first victory over the Warriors since 2015. DP (2-0) took a 2-0 lead when August Haymaker doubled to left and Fields followed with his first home run of the season. West Orange would rally to take a 3-2 lead in the third but the Panthers scored the next eight runs over three innings. In the third, CJ Cantwell's RBI double scored Sebastian Oetterer and Diego Garcia-Chirinos followed with an RBI base hit to bring home Cantwell for a 4-3 DP lead. Later in the fourth, August Haymaker's bases loaded single scored Raymond Negron-Valero to highlight a four-run rally as the Panthers took an 8-4 lead into the fifth. James Hurst led off the DP fifth inning with the third of his four hits on the day, stole second, and scored on Hamzah Nobles' single to left. Brandon Fields then reached on an error to score Nobles to push the lead to 10-3. Hurst finished with a career day, 4-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored. August Haymaker went 2-4 with a double and scored a run and Hamzah Nobles was 2-5 with an RBI, scored twice and stole two bases. Tyler Hartman got the start on the mound and picked up the victory with Josh Arent, Jesus Garcia-Chirinos and Alex Warren combining for four innings pitched, three hits and six strikeouts. DP will jump into district play Wednesday at home vs. Oak Ridge.
