Sophomore Mary Sosebee (20) fires a shot vs. Oviedo (2018)

Women's Lax pulls away from Trinity Prep
3/1/2018 10:53:00 PM

After an educational loss to Georgia power Cambridge last week, Women's Lacrosse bounced back well and peppered host Trinity Prep with eight consecutive second half goals in a 14-5 victory to improve to 2-1. Justine Decker led the barrage with six goals and Mary Sosebee picked up four goals for the Panthers. DP led 3-2 midway through the first half and extended to 6-3 at the break but erupted for eight straight scores in the second half to put the game out of reach. Goaltender Layla Benaissa may have had her finest performance of the season with six saves while Jocelyn Woodard led the defensive effort in her first start of the season. With four starters out, Mackenzie Allen had to shift positions, moving from defense to attack and came through with three of DP's eight goals in the second half. Freshman Sara Freeman collected a season-high eight ground balls for the Panthers. Varsity will host Evans tonight at 6:00. JV Lacrosse (0-1-1) came up short to the host Saints, 8-3, with two goals scored by Maani Rodriguez and a third from Lorena Salas. They'll be back in action March 8th at Lake Mary.
