Senior catcher Hannah Eden (2018)

Eden's walk-off Grand Slam sinks Wekiva
3/5/2018 10:46:00 PM

Hannah Eden's Grand Slam in the bottom of the eighth inning capped the most exciting comeback victory in years as Softball defeated Wekiva, 10-6. Plagued by seven errors that accounted for five of Wekiva's six runs, DP (9-1) found themselves down by three runs, 6-3, in the bottom of the seventh inning but rallied to tie before the extra inning heroics. In the seventh, DP loaded the bases on a walk to Dejia Benn and a pair of singles by Hannah Eden and Kati Kelly. With one out, Megan Rush grounded out to third to bring home Benn to cut the deficit to 6-4. With runners on second and third and two outs, junior Tiare Kong smacked a 2-1 pitch into right field to bring home Eden and Kelly with the tying runs. After Raychel Trocki   struck out two of three batters in the eighth inning, DP came to the plate and finished the job. Freshman Jordan Hartman reached on an error and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman Cassidy Mills. After Gracie Lopez was hit by a pitch, Dejia Benn singled to left field to load the bases and Hannah Eden belted a 1-1 pitch over the left field fence for a walk-off Grand Slam and the 10-6 victory, DP's eighth consecutive win which moves them to 3-0 in Metro West play. Eden finished 3-5 with five RBIs and three runs scored while Dejia Benn (2-4, two runs) and Kati Kelly (2-4, run) had multiple-hit games as well. Raychel Trocki went the full eight innings in the circle, allowed just one earned run and struck out nine batters. The Panthers travel downtown tonight to take on District rival Boone.
