Softball rallies to beat Boone
3/6/2018 10:01:00 PM

For the second consecutive game in as many days, Softball simply found a way to win again. Down 3-0 after one inning, DP (10-1) rallied for six runs in the final three innings to stun District rival and host Boone, 6-3. Raychel Trocki went the distance in the circle and struck out 11 batters to pick up the victory. DP chipped away at the lead in the fifth when Jordan Hartman singled and scored on Hannah Eden's two out single to center to put the Panthers on the board. Trailing 3-1 in the sixth, Kati Kelly led off with a single to right and Megan Rush reached base on a fielder's choice. Two batters later, Trocki drove a shot to center that was mishandled for a three-base error that allowed both Kelly and Rush to come in with the tying runs. Hartman stepped in and brought home Trocki with the go-ahead run with a groundout to second to give DP a 4-3 lead they wouldn't relinquish. But they weren't done. In the top of the seventh, Dejia Benn singled, Hannah Eden walked and Kati Kelly delivered an RBI single to left to score Benn for a 5-3 lead before Hannah Eden capped the scoring by stealing home for the 6-3 final. DP has now won nine consecutive games as they enter a very difficult stretch with Boone at home Thursday and a three-game gauntlet next week with Windermere and two District contests against Lake Nona.
