Women's Polo goes 2-2 at Supra Tourney
3/11/2018 1:54:00 PM

Bailey Valdes and Caroline Grzeszczak scored 22 of DP's 24 goals at the Ian Supra Memorial Tournament this weekend as Women's Water Polo finished with a 2-2 record to place fifth overall. The Panthers had an easy opening day match, dispatching Bishop Moore, 9-2, but found their second game a tougher task. Despite a strong defensive effort, keyed by Sam Horency's 11 saves in goal, DP couldn't get the offense on track and fell to the Patriots, 5-3. That sent the Panthers into the consolation rounds on Saturday, where they found another tough match in Winter Park and once again, the opportunities were there for goals but the shots weren't going through as DP fell in another nail-biter, 5-4. In the fifth place game, DP got the offense back on track as Valdes scored four and Grzeszczak struck for three more in an 8-4 victory over Seminole to move their season record to 11-3. Over the four game stretch, Caroline Grzeszczak finished with 11 goals, three assists and 17 steals while Bailey Valdes scored 11 goals, assisted on three and collected seven steals. Sam Horency allowed just four goals per game throughout the tournament, stopped 32 shots and scored a goal from 20 meters out in the finale against Seminole. DP will travel to take on Lake Nona Tuesday night at Lake Highland Prep.
