3/12/2018 9:32:00 PM

Softball struck for two runs in the first and three more in the third and withstood a seventh inning rally in a 6-4 victory over host Windermere. Gracie Lopez got things going in the first inning with a leadoff single and Dejia Benn followed with an infield single of her own. With runners at first and second, Kati Kelly's one-out single to right brought home Lopez and sent Benn to third. Megan Rush then grounded into a fielder's choice to score Benn and DP was in business with a 2-0 lead. After Windermere halved the lead with a run in the first, the Panthers opened the game up in the third with three more runs. Dejia Benn's RBI double scored Gracie Lopez and Hannah Eden doubled to left to bring home Benn for a 4-1 lead.  Megan Rush's infield single put runners at the corners and Tiare Kong's infield single scored Hannah Eden for a 5-1 lead. Raychel Trocki's run-scoring single in the fifth brought home Megan Rush to make it 6-2 Panthers but Windermere made it interesting in the seventh. After cutting their deficit down to two with a run-scoring double and a two-out RBI single, Trocki fanned the final batter, her ninth strikeout of the day, to close out the victory. DP has now won 11 straight games and will turn their focus on district rival Lake Nona Tuesday night at home.
