Women's Lacrosse broke a 3-3 tie, outscoring visiting West Orange 7-1 heading into halftime, and pulled away for an 18-8 victory to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Panthers jumped out to a 3-1 lead early on with Mary Sosebee, Zariah Durham and Justine Decker providing the offensive sparks but the Warriors scored twice to knot the score with 14 minutes left in the half. Three straight goals by Sosebee, Decker and Durham pushed the Panthers in front, 6-3, and a 4-0 run capped by Durham's goal with two seconds left gave DP a 10-4 lead at the break. Goals by Sara Freeman and Yasmeen Garib fended off a West Orange surge, though the gap closed to 12-8 before the Panthers scored six goals in a matter of three minutes to force the running clock to the finish. Zariah Durham finished with six goals, Justine Decker netted five, Mary Sosebee racked up four, while Yasmeen Garib went for two goals with Sara Freeman picking up a solo goal. Michelle McGrath assisted on two scores, Kambria Barry's defensive effort triggered three turnovers and Jocelyn Woodard caused a turnover as well. DP has now won six straight and will head to Ocoee Tuesday night. On the JV side, DP came up short against West Orange, 9-6, but the offense picked up considerably with Maani Rodriguez and Arianna Carson scoring two goals apiece with solo goals added by Lorena Salas and Hanna Heberling.
