Men's Volleyball 2nd at Ransom Invite

Junior outside hitter Jon Diedrich led Men's Volleyball with more than 50 kills over five games as DP placed second in the powerful Ransom Invitational Tournament in Miami. DP (12-4) defeated Evans in pool play on day one, 25-9, 25-20, as Diedrich picked up nine kills and DJ Nenic added five more. Match two vs. Boone was equally impressive in a 25-18, 25-15 victory with Jordan Poventud (eight kills, two blocks) and  Sam Barnett (eight kills) leading the charge. The Panthers wrapped up pool play Saturday morning with a 25-20, 25-18 victory over Tampa HEAT as Jon Diedrich collected ten kills and four blocks to win the pool and send the team to the Gold Medal Bracket. In the tournament semifinal, the Panthers dispatched Freedom in three sets, 25-20, 16-25, 15-10 as Diedrich dominated with 18 kills and Blake Inlow registered 22 assists and nine digs. In the championship match, DP conceded the first game to Cardinal Gibbons, 16-25, before rallying for a 25-23 victory in game two to tie the match. Game three was everything you'd expect from two top-flight programs but this time Gibbons took the deciding set, 15-17. Jon Diedrich finished with 12 kills while Raymond Negron-Valero (seven digs) and Jordan Poventud (four blocks) rounded out the stat sheet. Up next for the Panthers is an away match at Windermere March 27th.
