JV Baseball wins 7th straight
4/7/2018 7:01:00 PM

Since opening their season with a 4-4 record, JV Baseball has been on a tear, winning their last seven games including yesterday's 12-3 drubbing of visiting Cypress Creek. DP (11-4) scored at least one run in every inning, including two each in the first and second innings and four in the third. Michael Furry drove in two runs with a base hit in the third and scored on one of Creek's five errors in the field. In the sixth, James Paulsen knocked in two runs with a single to center to give DP the 12-3 final. Noah Sullivan went 2-4 with an RBI and a run, Louis Rodriguez was 1-2 with a pair of walks and scored three runs. On the mound, Nicholas Dieux and Ivan VanBeverhoudt combined for six innings, allowed just six hits and two earned runs while string out three. DP will host Windermere Tuesday.

Varsity Baseball was snake-bitten by another one-run loss Friday, their fifth of the season, 3-2 to host Cypress Creek, dropping the Panthers back to .500 on the season at 9-9. DP battled back from a 3-0 deficit with two runs in the sixth when Will Sullivan doubled home CJ Cantwell and August Haymaker but that's as close as they'd get. Tyler Hartman got the start and pitched four scoreless innings, scattering three hits. DP will look to pick themselves back up Monday afternoon as they host East Ridge.
