Women's Track 4th at Metro West

Women's Track and Field earned podium finishes in four events, lifting them to a fourth place finish in the Metro West Championship Saturday at Windermere. Senior Isabela Bartczak took the gold medal as expected in the 3200m (11:55.09) with senior Sabrina Bahr (13:23.09) and sophomore Geraldine Valencia (13:29.07) placing fourth and fifth, respectively. DP's 4 x 800m relay team of sophomore Roxanne Deisseroth, sophomore Isabelle Nemcik, freshman Teaghan Connolly amd sophomore Natalia Blake earned the silver medal with a time of 10:32.03. Sophomore Nowelia Blake earned the bronze medal in pole vault at 8' 00" while her sister Natalia Blake placed fourth at 7' 6". Rounding out the medalists was sophomore Gabrielle Matthews, who earned the bronze in the 100m hurdles at 16.94, followed by sophomore Jemiah Baker (fifth in 17.53) and freshman Armelle Oliantus (sixth in 17.85). The Panthers had plenty of top-eight finishes that picked up valuable points including Jemiah Baker in the long jump (fifth at 16' 10"), Roxanne Deisseroth in the 800m (sixth in 2:40.21), the 4 x 100m relay team of freshman Shakaeja Dore, sophomore Imani Wiley, sophomore Aasha Alexander and freshman Irmiris Mendez (sixth in 50.41), the 4 x 400m relay team of Gabrielle Matthews, junior Kambria Barry, Aasha Alexander and sophomore Domanique Douglas (sixth in 4:23.21), sophomore Tyliyah Smith in the shot put (seventh at 30' 5"), Imani Wiley in the 300m hurdles (seventh in 50.49) and Aasha Alexander in the 400m (eighth in 1:05.27). DP will now look ahead to the District Championship Saturday morning up at Showalter Field in Winter Park.
