Records fall as Softball sweeps Oak Ridge

Dr. Phillips Softball set a new school record with their 20th victory of the season and eclipsed the season record for runs scored (212) after sweeping a doubleheader from visiting Oak Ridge, 15-0 and 16-0. In game one, DP (20-2) jumped on the Pioneers for four runs in the first and matched that output in the third and fourth innings to take game one by mercy rule. Hannah Eden finished 3-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs, scored four runs and stole five bases. In the process, Eden broke Susie Stimmel's 2009 record with her 12th double of the season. and tied Stimmel's record with her 38th hit. Dejia Benn finished 3-3 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored, Kati Kelly went 3-4 with an RBI, five stolen bases and scored twice while Gracie Lopez went 2-3 with a solo home run, double, an RBI and scored three runs. In the circle, Raychel Trocki pitched four shutout innings, allowing just one hit while fanning seven.

In the nightcap, DP jumped all over Oak Ridge with 14 runs in the first inning en route to a 16-0 victory. Raychel Trocki carried the hammer with two home runs, scored two runs and knocked in six runs to give her a school record 29 RBIs on the season, breaking the old mark of 28 set by Donna Ryan in 2014 and tied by Sarah Kollas in 2015. Megan Rush went 2-2 with two RBIs, four stolen bases and a pair of runs scored. Raychel Trocki pitched another gem, this time a three-inning no hitter, striking out five. Expect more individual records to fall in the next few games as records for at bats, runs scored, stolen bases and walks are teetering. DP will head to West Orange next Wednesday and close out their regular season at home next Friday against Haines City.
