Junior Jacob Hartman slides into third against Bishop Moore (2018)

Baseball shuts out Ocoee
4/15/2018 1:25:00 PM

CJ Cantwell went 2-3 with two RBIs and Jacob Hartman went 2-4 and scored twice to give Baseball a 6-0 victory over host Ocoee Friday. Senior right hander Cort Roedig allowed just three hits and struck out four over three and two-thirds innings to pick up the victory while Logan Bryan struck out three and allowed no hits in two and a third innings of relief. DP (11-10) got on the board in the first when Will Sullivan drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on a base hit by Hamzah Nobles. That lead lasted until the fifth inning when Jacob Hartman led off with a double and scored on another double by CJ Cantwell. In the sixth, Hartman singled with two outs, went to third on a double by Diego Garcia-Chirinos and scored on James Hurst's grounder to second. Cantwell followed with an RBI single to right to score Garcia-Chirinos and August Haymaker brought home Hurst with a line drive double to right. Up 5-0, the Panthers tacked on an insurance run in the seventh when Raymond Negron-Valero's sacrifice fly brought home Hamzah Nobles for the 6-0 final. DP will stay in Metro West Conference play as they host Wekiva Tuesday and Apopka Thursday.

JV Baseball built a 4-0 lead on visiting Windermere before surrendering four runs in the fifth inning but Cooper Mills doubled and scored in the DP fifth to give the Panthers a 5-4 victory. DP (13-4) won their ninth straight and avenged a bad early-season loss to the Wolverines. DP only managed five hits but patience at the plate led to six walks and those proved costly for Windermere. Ivan VanBeverhoudt singled in a run in the third while Joel Joffe and Victor Osuna both registered doubles. VanBeverhoudt went four innings on the mound and was spelled by Austin Stoetzer in the fifth, who shut down Windermere over the next two innings before Canaan Mobley came on with two outs in the sixth and fanned the final batter. DP will host West Orange Monday at 4:00 looking to even the season series at a game apiece.
