Women's Track 4th at District Championship

Senior Isabela Bartczak and junior Zoe Alexander earned individual gold medals highlighting a fourth place team finish for Women's Track and Field at Saturday's District Championship. The Panthers finished with 89 team points, just two behind third place Timber Creek and outpaced fifth place Boone by 12. Isabela Bartczak won the 1600m in 5:16.04 and took home the silver medal in the 3200m in 11:20.93. After running her season best time in the preliminaries, Zoe Alexander took the gold the 400m in 58.48. With top four finishers advancing to the Regional Championship Thursday, April 26th, at Flagler Palm Coast, DP qualified three additional runners as well as two relay teams. Junior Ebone Fortilien will advance in the long jump after earning the bronze medal at 17' 6.25" as well as in the 100m after a bronze medal finish of 12.60. In the 300m hurdles, sophomore Gabrielle Matthews punched her ticket to the Regional with a silver medal time of 48.48 and also placed fifth in the 100m hurdles in 16.44. Joining Matthews in Palm Coast will be sophomore Imani Wiley who earned the bronze medal in the 300m hurdles (49.71). DP will also be sending its silver medal-winning 4 x 400m relay team of Matthews, sophomore Domanique Douglassophomore Courtney Afram-Gyening and Zoe Alexander (4:04.67) as well as the silver medalist 4 x 100m relay team of freshman Shakaeja Dorefreshman Irmiris Mendez, sophomore Robilina Michel and Ebone Fortilien (49.55). Rounding out the top eight finishers were Domanique Douglas in the 400m (fifth in 1:02.52) and the triple jump (eighth at 32' 00"), freshman Bria Butler in shot put (seventh at 29' 2.5"), Imani Wiley in the 100m hurdles (seventh in 17.84), sophomore Tyliyah Smith in the discus (eighth at 84' 4") and the shot put (eighth at 28' 4.25"), sophomore Natalia Blake in the pole vault (eighth at 6' 11.75"), senior Sarah Zamot in the 3200m (eighth in 12:37.73) as well as the 4 x 800m relay team of freshman Teaghan Connolly, sophomore Isabelle Nemcik, senior Hannah Waddell and sophomore Roxanne Deisseroth (seventh in 10:55.15).
