Junior pitcher Mitchell Stockwell (2018)

Varsity Baseball wins 3rd straight
4/17/2018 11:38:00 PM

Junior Mitchell Stockwell pitched five innings of one-hit ball, allowing no runs and striking out four as Baseball buried visiting Wekiva, 10-0, for their third straight victory. Brandon Fields put the Panthers (12-10) on the board in the second inning, doubling to left, stealing third and then stealing home in the span of nine pitches. Fields now has 21 stolen bases on the season without being caught. In the third, DP struck again on a two-run double by Hamzah Nobles and tagged Wekiva for three more in the fourth. Jacob Hartman singled and scored on a passed ball, Will Sullivan's bases loaded sacrifice fly brought home James Hurst and Hamzah Nobles doubled home CJ Cantwell to give DP a 6-0 lead. An RBI single by Diego Garcia-Chirinos in the fifth, a bases loaded walk to Brandon Fields in the sixth and a two-run single by Logan Bryan also in the sixth capped the scoring barrage. DP banged out 12 hits, led by Nobles (3-4, three RBIs, run), Hartman (2-3, two runs), Cantwell (2-3, two runs) and August Haymaker (2-3, two runs) and will look to continue their winning streak at home Thursday vs. Apopka.

JV Baseball continues to steamroll everything in its path, evidenced by their 17-4 butchering of host East Ridge, for their 11th consecutive victory. DP (15-4) broke open a 7-4 game with a ten-run fifth to end the game on a mercy rule and registered their seventh game scoring double digit runs.  Virtually the entire starting lineup had a great day at the plate: Huber Perez (3-5, two RBIs, three runs), Michael Furry (2-4, double, two RBIs, two runs), Derek Arroyo (1-4, double, RBI, three runs), Cooper Mills (3-4, double, three RBIs, run), Victor Osuna (2-3, RBI), Randy DeMaio (1-3, two RBIs) and Canaan Mobley (1-3, RBI, two runs). The Panthers will head to Apopka Thursday before closing out their season on the road at Olympia April 26th.
