Junior attack Zariah Durham scored a career-high eight goals while Sara Freeman and Justine Decker added four apiece as Women’s Lacrosse defeated Olympia going away, 22-11, in the District Semifinal. DP (14-4) jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game before Olympia rallied to score five of the next six goals to tie the game up at 6-6 at the 14:11 mark of the first half. Justine Decker gave DP some room with three consecutive goals before Sara Freeman put two in the cage right before the half. With a 12-9 lead, the Panthers came out in the second half on fire, outscoring the Titans 10-2. Mary Sosebee’s goal triggered a 7-0 run that put the game away for good, sending the Panthers to Friday’s District Championship vs. Bishop Moore. Sosebee finished with two goals and 16 draw controls, one shy of the school record, while Freeman collected ten ground balls. Michelle McGrath, Yasmeen Garib and Kambria Barry notched solo goals. Garib and Sophia Castellanos were the defensive standouts and goaltender Layla Benaissa picked up six saves in the second half. The District Championship between DP and Bishop Moore will start at 7:00 pm in the Spoone.
