Senior captain Alex Kaiser scores against Apopka (2018)

Men's Water Polo falls in District final
4/20/2018 12:01:00 AM

Men's Water Polo scored the opening goal of the District Championship but that was the only lead they'd get as top-seeded Olympia outscored the Panthers, 12-4, in the second half in an 18-6 victory. Junior Dan Magrino and senior Alex Kaiser led the scoring for DP with two goals each with solo goals credited to Gavin Collins and Max Meisenheimer. Junior goaltender Gabe Madej stopped 11 shots in the cage and collected three steals. DP finished the season with a solid record of 22-5 and several school records rewritten. Dan Magrino now owns the marks for assists in a season (84) and career (190) and junior James Sweet set a new record for season steals with 113. Sweet is also closing in on the career steals record (237 held by Evan Staton), needing just 26 more, while junior Max Meisenheimer is just 43 goals shy of breaking the career goals record (392, Evan Staton) next season as well. Congratulations to senior Alex Kaiser on finishing his career with personal records in goals (31), assists (33) and steals (27) this season and also congratulations to senior Raphael Sessa on a great first and final season with nine goals and six steals.
