Junior Raymond Negron-Valero (2018)

Baseball knocks off Apopka in 9
4/20/2018 1:12:00 AM

Junior Raymond Negron-Valero's one-out, bases load single in the bottom of the ninth inning drove home Brandon Fields with the game-winning run to give Baseball a 4-3 victory over Apopka and it's fourth consecutive win. DP (13-10) erased a one-run deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. CJ Cantwell singled and scored on an RBI base hit off the bat of Hamzah Nobles and after Nobles stole second, Brandon Fields drove him in with a shot to left for a 2-1 lead.  After the Panthers added a run in the second to push the lead to 3-1, Apopka chipped away with runs in the sixth and seventh inning to tie the score at 3-3 and force extra innings. In the bottom of the ninth, Brandon Fields led off with a double to left field and went to third on a sacrifice by Jacob Hartman. Sebastian Oetterer reached on an infield single and Diego Garcia-Chirinos was walked intentionally to load the bases with one out. Raymond Negron-Valero, who was 0-3 heading up to the plate, then smacked a 1-2 pitch to shortstop, bringing home Brandon Fields with the game-winning run. Fields finished the day 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Hamzah Nobles went 2-4, also with an RBI and a run, as did CJ Cantwell. On the mound, Cort Roedig got the nod and went five innings, allowing two runs while fanning three. Tyler Hartman came on in the sixth and pitched two innings, allowing an unearned run while Eric Leon Gil was perfect over the final two innings, striking out two to pick up the victory. DP will look to continue their streak at Lyman Tuesday before wrapping up regular season play Thursday, April 26th, at home vs. Olympia.

JV Baseball just keeps winning, folks. That's what they do. Last night at Apopka, the Panthers exploded for four runs in the second inning and that's all they needed in a 4-1 victory over the Blue Darters. After a leadoff single by Victor Osuna and a sacrifice to put him in scoring position, Grant Houde's sharp single to left brought Osuna home for a 1-0 lead. DP loaded the bases with one out before Michael Furry scored on a passed ball and Derek Arroyo doubled home Huber Perez to make it 3-0. With two down, Joel Joffe scored on another passed ball for the final run. Ivan VanBeverhoudt picked up the victory on the mound after going six and two-thirds innings, allowing just one earned run, striking out four. DP (16-4) has now won 12 straight and will go for 13 Monday at Windermere.
