Softball shuts out Cypress in semiifinal
4/25/2018 10:38:00 PM

Raychel Trocki pitched a complete game one-hit shutout and struck out seven batters to lead Softball to a 3-0 victory over Cypress Creek in the District Semifinal. Trocki, who extended her school record to 22 wins this season, had room to work with early as DP (22-3) scored in the first when Kati Kelly roped a single to left to score Deija Benn for a 1-0 lead. That held into the fifth inning when Gracie Lopez singled and scored on an RBI triple by Hannah Eden to double the lead to 2-0. That at-bat was the 88th of the season for Eden, which broke Ginny Jernigan's record of 87 set back in 1996. In the sixth, Raychel Trocki drew a two-out walk and came home on a base hit by Jordan Hartman. Cypress Creek threatened in the seventh with a one-out walk but Trocki snagged a grounder for the second out and struck out the final batter to clinch the victory. DP will take on Lake Nona at Freedom Friday at 4:30 for the District Championship.
