If you needed any more proof that regular season contests are merely a warmup for the playoffs, look no further than Men’s Volleyball. After suffering a pair of heartbreaking losses to Bishop Moore in the regular season, DP (21-6) rocked the Hornets in straight sets last night, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, to capture their second straight District Championship and seventh in program history. Senior Blake Inlow finished with a team-high 26 assists and junior Jon Diedrich collected 14 kills, six digs and was perfect on all passes. Senior Sam Barnett led the Panthers with ten digs and added nine kills.

DP got it done defensively at the net with six blocks as well as at the service line, as senior Isaac Word, junior Raymond Negron-Valero, Sam Barnett and junior Jordan Poventud combined for five aces, including Poventud’s match-winner. DP advances to the Regional Championship match next Tuesday at Celebration set to start at 7:00 pm. The winner punches their ticket to Miami for the State Tournament to face the winner of Seminole Ridge and Palm Beach Gardens in the quarterfinal round.
