Baseball throttles Lake Nona in District
5/1/2018 9:47:00 AM

Mitchell Stockwell threw four shutout innings and allowed just one hit as Baseball avenged two regular season defeats by hammering host Lake Nona, 14-0, in the opening round of the District Tournament yesterday. DP (14-12) opened up with three runs in the first inning highlighted by consecutive doubles by Brandon Fields and August Haymaker. In the  third DP tacked on two more when CJ Cantwell and Will Sullivan drove in Fields and Haymaker with a sacrifice fly and a ground out, respectively, to push the lead to 5-0. In the fourth, the Panthers exploded for six runs to put the game away for good. Hamzah Nobles (2-4, two runs), Brandon Fields (2-3, three runs) and Will Sullivan (3-4, three RBIs, run) did some damage at the plate as did CJ Cantwell (1-3, two RBIs, two runs), August Haymaker (1-2, three RBIs, two runs) and Sebastian Oetterer (1-4, two RBIs). DP advances to the District Semifinal game tomorrow at 4:30 at home against top-seeded Cypress Creek.
