Over at West Orange HS, DP Softball took on the host Warriors in the Regional Quarterfinal and despite picking up seven hits, they couldn’t get them across the plate in a 9-0 loss that ended their season with a record of 22-5. The loss aside, what a tremendous year for the Panthers as they finished with team records for wins (22), runs scored (231) as well as consecutive wins (13). Individually, senior catcher Hannah Eden had a banner year, earning school records in four categories: at-bats (93), hits (44), doubles (12) and RBIs (33). Eden also tied the school record last year with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and led the Panthers this year with a .473 batting average. Outstanding seasons were also turned in by junior shortstop Dejia Benn who hit .395 with 40 runs and 26 stolen bases. Junior Gracie Lopez earned all-Metro West honors with a .435 average, a school record 41 runs scored and 28 stolen bases. Junior pitcher Raychel Trocki earned All-Metro West honors, setting a new school record with 22 wins, struck out 205 batters with a 1.73 ERA while also batting .355 with a team-high four home runs and 32 RBIs. Junior first baseman Kati Kelly was an All-Metro West honoree for the second time, batting .420 with 19 RBIs and 20 runs scored, junior Megan Rush hit .377 with 24 RBIs and scored 22 runs and head coach Mike Gale earned FACA 9A District Coach of the Year. Unquestionably a phenomenal year for the Panthers and much to look forward to next year as well!
