Senior quarterback Aaliyah Govan threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third to lead Flag Football to a 21-0 victory over visiting Fort Pierce Central in the Regional Semifinal last night in the Spoone. Govan put the Panthers on the board in the game's opening drive, capping the scoring drive with a two-yard run for a 7-0 lead. Govan got it done on the defensive side as well, with a pair of interceptions. Senior Shayla Douglas' interception stuffed a Central drive midway through the second quarter and returned it to the 20. That set up a 15-yard touchdown strike from Govan to freshman Beyonce Sierra and Govan followed up with an extra point pass to Megan Lapeyrouse for a 14-0 lead at the half. After a scoreless third, DP tacked on their final touchdown in the fourth on Govan's second touchdown pass of the night for the 21-0 final. DP (13-1) was led defensively by Nyah Jackson with six flag pulls, Govan and Douglas picked off two passes each and Megan Lapeyrouse hauled in DP's fifth interception. Dr. Phillips advances to the Regional Championship at Wekiva Monday night at 7:00.
