For the second time is as many weeks, Women's Cross Country's youth movement has opened some eyes as the Panthers picked up a third-placed finish at the 16-team DeLand Invitational this past weekend. Freshman Jasmine Little led the way once again with her second top-ten finish, placing eighth in the field of 137 runners with a time of 20:35. Sophomore Teaghan Connolly pulled in at 21:57 (21st) while freshman Amber He was just two seconds behind at 21:59 (23rd) and freshman Shannon Matzner pulled in at 22:01 for a 26th-place finish. Rounding out the scoring five was junior Roxanne Deisseroth with a 39th-place finish at 22:36, a full 51 seconds faster than a week ago. DP also saw two more runners finish in the top 50 with junior Meilah Wimbush (23:13) and sophomore Sophie Cirineo (23:19) while junior Sydney Kaufman closed out the Panther contingent at 23:52, placing 63rd overall. JV Cross Country did not have enough runners to earn a team finish but they did have the top individual runner as junior Whitney Wright captured first place out of 125 runners in 23:31. DP will head to the coast Saturday for the Astronaut Invitational in Titusville.
