Women's Swimming takes the 200 free relay title with Sam Horency, McKenzie Moreland, Julia Batzer and Kayla Smith at the 2018 Spruce Creek Invitational

Senior Kayla Smith won both her individual events and powered two relay teams to the top of the podium as well as Women's Swimming placed third of ten teams at the Spruce Creek Invitational Saturday. Smith took home the 100 free title with a time of 54.78 and came back later for the 100 backstroke championship, touching the wall in a season-best 59.47. Smith, freshman McKenzie Moreland, junior Ana Luisa Cotta and junior Samantha Horency won the 200 medley relay in 1:58.75, while Smith senior Julia Batzer, Moreland and Horency teamed up for the championship in the 200 free relay in 1:47.50. McKenzie Moreland earned a pair of individual podium finishes, placing second in the 200 IM (2:24.52) and third in the 100 fly (1:04.14), and Sam Horency completed the podium crew with a second place showing in the 50 free (26.59) plus a fifth place finish in the 100 fly. Rounding out the top eight finishers for DP were the 400 free relay team of Julia Batzer, sophomore Hannah Harris, senior Hope Miller and Ana Luisa Cotta (sixth), Cotta again in the 100 free (eighth), Batzer in the 200 free (eighth) and freshman Marina Mansfield in the 100 breast (eighth). DP will host Boone Wednesday.
