Men's Swimming storms past Boone
9/26/2018 11:03:00 PM

Men's Swimming found themselves without a win and down two points, 40-38, through the first five events against visiting Boone but senior Gavin Collins' winning time of 51.50 in the 100 freestyle turned the corner for the Panthers in a 101-69 victory. Collins also placed second in the 200 free (1:55.78), one of ten runner-up finishes in a team victory that saw only two individual wins for DP, including senior Gabe Madej in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.61). While Collins' victory gave DP the lead for good, the Panthers clinched the meet going away with resounding victories in the 200 free relay with Collins, Dan Magrino, Hayden Joossens and Max Meisenheimer (1:32.96), and the 400 relay with Collins, Magrino, James Sweet and Meisenheimer in 3:31.43. Second place finishes also went to Hayden Joossens in the 200 IM (2:19.45) and 100 breast (1:13.69), Max Meisenheimer in the 50 free (23.14) and the 100 free (51.97), Dan Magrino in the 100 fly (1:00.58), Sole Fratila in the 500 free (5:22.27), Max Collingwood in the 100 backstroke (1:05.26), the 200 medley relay team of Ricky Cheng, Gabe Madej, Hayden Joossens and James Sweet (1:51.91) and the 200 free relay team of Cheng, Martin Arias, Brandon Tran and Madej in 1:39.77. DP will host Windermere next Wednesday for Senior Day.
