With four runners placing among the top 11, Women's Cross Country had a sensational showing at Saturday's Metro West Conference championship as the Panthers placed second in the ten-team event, just ten points behind champion Windermere and 32 points ahead of third place West Orange. Jasmine Little crossed the finish line in 20:24 to place fifth in the field of 69 runners, earning the unofficial title of top freshman in the conference. Sophomore Teaghan Connolly is peaking just in time for the championship stretch as she finished eighth with a solid time of 21:18. Freshmen Amber He and Shannon Matzner battled right to the finish with He (21:25.33) clipping Matzner (21:25.66) by just 33 hundredths of a second to place tenth and eleventh, respectively. Junior Roxanne Deisseroth gave DP five runners in the top 20 with a time of 22:16. Junior Isabelle Nemcik's time of 22:20 (21st) and junior Sydney Kaufman, who closed in 22:36 (25th) rounded out the Panthers' top seven scoring contingent. DP will now compete in the District Championship Friday at West Orange.
