Senior Josh Matzner's 5th place finish led Men's Cross Country at the 2018 Metro West Championship

Men's Cross Country 4th at Metro West

Senior Josh Matzner's fifth place individual finish highlighted Men's Cross Country's solid performance at the Metro West Conference Championship. Matzner ran a season-best 16:37 while sophomore Adam Berriz also came home in a season-best time of 17:07 to finish tenth in the field of 89 runners. Senior Anthony Venturini placed 15th in 17:25 with sophomore Ilyas Semlali holding steady in 20th with a time of 17:42. Sophomore Jose Nazario's time of 18:01 (27th) secured DP's top five times while junior Kervenster Azor (18:17) and junior Damon Perez (18:42) placed 30th and 37th, respectively, to complete the scorecard. As a team, the Panthers placed fourth among the ten competing teams with 77 points, just seven points shy of third place Olympia but 35 back of Windermere, who held off host West Orange by seven points to take the title.The Panthers will now train for the District Championship which will be held at West Orange Friday morning.
