For the first time since 2009, Dr. Phillips Men's Cross Country can call itself District Champions as all five scoring runners placed in the top 15, led by senior Josh Matzner, who won his first individual District Championship of his four-year career. Matzner was the only runner in the field of 76 to finish the course in under 17 minutes (16:53). Senior Anthony Venturini placed seventh overall with a time of 17:31 followed by sophomore Adam Berriz four seconds later at 17:35, good for tenth. Sophomore Ilyas Semlali placed 11th, finishing in 17:42 and junior Kervenster Azor climbed back into the scoring team with a 15th-place finish in 17:57. Rounding out DP's top seven on the board were sophomore Jose Nazario, who placed 19th in 18:04, and sophomore John Carlo Lee in 29th place at 18:51. DP will look to build on their momentum at the Regional Championship in Gainesville next Friday.
