Senior Angelle Domingue shattered the school record for total lift in the 169-pound class, leading Women's Weightlifting to a dominating victory over Edgewater, 75-8, in the season opener. Domingue's 290-pound total lift eclipsed Evita Gyimah's mark of 280 set back in 2009 in addition to tying the records for bench (145 pounds, Chanda Farrar, 2004) and clean and jerk (145 pounds, Adrianna Lemon, 2005, and Alyssa Morrill, 2006). DP (1-0) won all ten weight classes with notable showings from Megan Rush at 119 pounds (225 total), Zamora St. Cyr at 129 pounds (280 total) and Amani Guzman in the unlimited class (345 total). Senior Naomi Alezi tied her own record with a 155-pound clean and jerk in the 199-pound class and is five pounds shy of matching her total lift record (305) set one year ago. DP will host Windermere next Wednesday.
