Women's Weightlifting set or tied no less than ten school records Wednesday as the Panthers crushed host Windermere, 73-15, to improve to 2-0 on the young season. DP won all but one weight class, led by senior Naomi Alezi, who tied her own record in the 199-pound class with a 150-pound bench press and broke her own records in the clean and jerk (160 pounds) and total lift (310 pounds). Junior Jada St. Cyr tied the school record in the 154-pound division with a 170-pound bench press, breaking Chanda Farrar's record by ten pounds set back in 2005, and also set the total lift record of 310 pounds, obliterating Talita Norberto's 2009 record by 15 pounds. After setting three records a week ago in the 169-pound class, senior Angelle Domingue improved her existing records in the clean and jerk (155 pounds) and total lift (300 pounds). Solo records were also tied by sophomore Grace Fay with a 110-pound bench press in the 110-pound division (Krystal Rodriguez, 2009), sophomore Zamora St. Cyr with a 145-pound clean and jerk in the 129-pound division (Jesily Ruiz, 2009), and senior Amani Guzman with a 190-pound clean and jerk in the unlimited class (Ketondra Cuyler, 2016). Senior Megan Rush won the 119-pound weight class with a 105-pound bench and 130-pound clean and jerk (five pounds shy of the school record) and junior Tyliyah Smith took home second place in the unlimited class with a 350-pound total lift. DP will look to continue their assault on the record book next Wednesday at home vs. Apopka.
