For the third straight week, Women's Weightlifting assaulted the school record book as they dispatched visiting Apopka, 61-29, to improve to 3-0 on the season. DP set five new records and tied two more in what has become the standard performance for the Panthers. Sophomore Gabriele Serpa won the 101-pound division while tying the school record for the clean and jerk at 110 pounds, equaling the mark set first by Hailey Violetta in 2011 and matched by Vioty Milord in 2017. Serpa finished with a total lift of 195 pounds. In the 110-pound class, it was sophomore Grace Fay who picked up first place and also put her name in the record book standing alone with a school-record bench press of 115 pounds, breaking Krystal Rodriguez' mark of 110 pounds set in 2009. Fay finished with a 225-pound total. Moving up into the 129-pound weight class, sophomore Zamora St. Cyr's 290-pound total lift was good enough to win the division and included the school record for clean and jerk (150 pounds) that eclipsed Jesily Ruiz' 145-pound mark from 2009. Junior Jada St. Cyr rewrites the record book seemingly every week, and that includes her record-tying 150-pound clean and jerk (Talita Norberto, 2009) and her 320-pound total lift that bettered her own record by ten pounds. In the 199-pound class, senior Naomi Alezi shattered Samantha Cancel's bench record (150 pounds, 2012), with a 160-pound press and upped her existing school-record total lift to 320 pounds. Senior Amani Guzman wrapped up all the division winners, taking home the unlimited class title by tying her own bench record (190) and finishing with a 380-pound total lift. DP will take a break from competition until after Thanksgiving when they'll take on Evans in the final dual meet of the season.
