For the second time in four years, Women’s Soccer was crowned District Champions as they shut down visting Apopka last night in the Spoone, 2-0. DP (12-2-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior Belle Robinson took a pass from junior Grace Owens and put it into the twine in the 25th minute. Owens would help pad the Panthers’ lead in the 38th minute as well, feeding sophomore Jill Ross for another goal to put the game away for good. Junior goalkeeper MacKenzie Montague steered away five shots on goal to earn her seventh shutout of the season. Dr. Phillips will host the Regional Quarterfinal Tuesday night at 7:00 pm as they take on the Distict 3 runner-up, either Oviedo (14-1-1) or Lake Mary (10-3-1) who play tonight.
