Men's Track and Field opened up their 2019 season with a second-place finish at the Flagler Pinnacle Classic

Men's Track 2nd at preseason classic

In the opening meet of the 2019 season, Men's Track and Field posted top-three finishes in six events to place second overall at the Flagler Pinnacle Classic Friday evening. Senior Antone Alexander was the long jump champion with a leap of 20'10.5" and DP had tremendous success in the 4x100m relay as the A team took gold with Nivon Holland, Andrew Campos, Jacquez Jones and Emmanuel Pierre clocking a 43.37 while the B team placed third in 46.63 with Myles Wiley, Kemani Tannis-Harris, Javarious Johnson and Daniel Demontagnac. DP also saw a pair of top five finishes in five more events led by pole vaulters Oshny Leger, who placed second at 10'5.25" and Jacob Collins, who earned fourth at 8'11.5". Emmanuel Pierre was the silver medalist in the 100m in 11.20 with Andrew Campos taking fifth in 11.39. In the 300m hurdles, senior Arron Edwards picked up where he left off last year, taking second in 41.57 while Jalen Washington was fifth in 46.17. Washington also earned a fourth place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 19.31. Freshman Daniel Demontagnac was DP's top finisher in the high jump, placing third at 5'11.5", followed by Ledger Hatch in fourth at 5'9.75". DP had strong looks in the triple jump as well with Myles Wiley taking fourth (35'9.25") and Zion Trimboli fifth (34'1.25"). Other top five finishers included Nivon Holland in the 200m (fourth in 23.32), Adam Berriz in the 800m (fourth in 2:10.07), and the 4x400m relay team of Myles Wiley, Javarious Johnson, Jacquez Jones, and Arron Edwards (fifth in 3:34.98). DP will compete at the Seminole Open next Saturday at the National Training Center in Clermont.
