Women's Water Polo splits first day

Women's Water Polo opened up their Lake Nona Invitational action with a 15-3 victory over Hagerty. Ana Luisa Cotta dominated the field with a career-high seven goals, assisted on two more and collected three steals while sophomore Hannah Harris scored four goals with a pair of assists and four steals. DP also got a pair of scores from Peyton Haines and solo goals from Brittney Bonnin and Hope Miller. Goaltender Sam Horency stopped nine shots on goal and added five assists and two steals. DP ran into St. Agnes of Houston, Texas in the quarterfinal round and despite keeping within striking distance throughout the game, the Panthers couldn't take command in an 11-8 loss, their first of the season. Ana Luisa Cotta led the scoring for DP (3-1) with four goals and three steals, with Brittney Bonnin, Peyton Haines, Hannah Harris and Hope Miller rounding out the scoring column with a goal apiece. Sam Horency stopped six shots in the cage, assisted on two scores and recorded a career-high ten steals. DP will be back in the pool tomorrow morning looking to earn a berth in the fifth-place game. They'll take on Suncoast HS at 8:50 am.
