Women's Track takes 5th at Seminole Open

Bolstered by five bronze medal finishes and 11 placings in the top seven, Women's Track and Field had a tremendous showing at the Seminole Open in Clermont, placing fifth among the 25 participating teams. Junior Gabrielle Matthews earned a pair of bronze medals in the 100m hurdles (16.70) and the 300m hurdles (49.60) while sophomore Shakaeja Dore took third as well in the 200m with a time of 25.90, and finished fifth in the 100m in 12.63. Dore also led off the bronze medal-winning 4 x100m team with Lourdes Safford, Irmiris Mendez and Rayanna Mathis, who finished in 50.30. Safford and Mathis also teamed with Jarvia Carr and Domanique Douglas for a bronze medal finish in the 4 x 400m relay in 4:16.18. Other top eight scorers included the 4 x 800m relay team of Roxanne Deisseroth, Isabelle Nemcik, Teaghan Connolly and Jasmine Little (fifth in 10:59.14), Domanique Douglas in the triple jump (fifth at 34'5"), Nowelia Blake in the pole vault (seventh at 6'11.75"), Imani Wiley in the 100m hurdles (seventh in 17.38) and Jasmine Little in the 1600m (eighth in 5:52.70). Up next for DP is the Royal Open at TFA this coming Friday and the St. Cloud Invitational Saturday.
