Women's Water Polo overcame a difficult loss to St. Agnes (Texas) on Friday and bounced back to win both games on Saturday to secure a fifth place finish at the Lake Nona Invitational. DP (5-1) scored three goals in the first period on Suncoast and held serve the rest of the way in a 7-4 victory highlighted by a four-goal performance by junior Hope Miller. Ana Luisa Cotta notched three goals with a team-high six steals in a strong defensive effort that was also punctuated by goaltender Sam Horency, who finished with 12 saves, including four on breakaways and another on a penalty shot. That victory sent the Panthers into the fifth place game against Boone where the defense dominated again. DP managed only three goals from Brittney Bonnin, Hope Miller and Ana Luisa Cotta but the same three also combined for eights steals while Sam Horency stopped eight shots in goal to secure a 3-0 shutout victory. The Panthers will host Wekiva Wednesday and travel to College Park to face Edgewater Thursday night.
