Senior Zoe Alexander led Women's Basketball to 19 victories in 2019

Women's Basketball falls in Regional Semi

In the Regional Semifinal, Women's Basketball squared off against host Oak Ridge for the third time this year and everything seemed to be going the Panthers' way in the first half. DP (19-10) led the Pioneers, 12-6, heading into the second quarter and kept their momentum behind threes from Porchia Washington and Truly Le that stretched the margin to ten, 25-15, with 2:07 left in the half. Oak Ridge chipped away at the lead steadily, though, with a pair of buckets before the break to pull within six, 25-19. In the second half, Zoe Alexander knocked down a three midway through the third quarter to bring the lead up to nine, 32-23, but Oak Ridge consistently out-rebounded the Panthers and capitalized on second chance opportunities, drawing them closer, 32-27 at the end of the third. In the fourth, the wheels simply fell off the bus for DP for as much as the first half went their way, the fourth quarter belonged to Oak Ridge, as they outscored the Panthers 19-10, to win going away. A tough loss for the ladies but they put forth a great effort all season long, finishing with the most wins since 2014. Congratulations to seniors Zoe Alexander, Truly Le, Layla Benaissa, Nisa Costa and Natalya Thomas-Quintana on a great season and an even better career!
