Sophomore distance runner Adam Berriz (2019)

4x4 clinches Men's Track Fresh/Soph title
3/7/2019 9:00:00 AM

Men’s Track and Field flirted with first place all night at the Freshman / Sophomore Metro West Championship but not until the 4 x 400m relay, the last event of the meet, did the Panthers clinch the team title. DP took the silver medal with Robert Scott, Myles Wiley, Jalen Thompson and Emmanuel Pierre clipping third-place West Orange by two-hundredths of a second in 3:43.40 to win the ten-team meet 120-118. DP picked up a pair of gold medals by Adam Berriz in the 3200m (10:30.18) and Jacob Collins in the pole vault (9’ 5.25”) but the depth of the Panthers was the difference. Silver medals were claimed in four events, including Davy Bancey in the pole vault (8’ 5.5”), Adam Berriz in the 1600m (4:44.38), Adam Yche in the 800m (2:11.09) and Ilyas Semlali in the 3200m (10:36.27). Emmanuel Pierre earned a pair of bronze medals in the 100m (11.39) and the 200m (23.43) while Daylen Johnson captured bronze in the triple jump (36’ 0”), as did Robert Scott in the high jump (5’ 7.75”) and the 4 x 800m relay team of Adam Berriz, Greg Carpousis, Reynaldo Delgado Exposito and John Carlo Lee (10:11.35). DP will get the whole squad back together for Saturday’s Brian Jaeger Classic in Winter Park.
